Sustainability

Sustainability in plant operations – reducing CO₂, conserving resources, increasing availability

Sustainability at F&T Dichtungstechnik begins where industrial plants are operated reliably, efficiently, and with minimal resource consumption. Our services are designed to reduce CO₂ emissions, lower water and energy consumption, and measurably extend the service life of pumps, mechanical seals, and rotating equipment.

F&T as a sustainable partner to industry

Technically verifiable measures for ESG, CSRD, and sustainability goals

For our customers, this means: technically verifiable measures that make a concrete contribution to achieving ESG targets, fulfilling CSRD reporting obligations, and meeting internal corporate sustainability and environmental requirements.

F&T Dichtungstechnik acts as a technical partner for industry, municipalities, and energy suppliers when sustainability needs to be implemented not in the abstract, but with real operational impact.

Recognised frameworks

Supporting the implementation of sustainability goals

Our services support companies in the implementation and documentation of sustainability goals within recognised and official frameworks:

ESG criteria

Environmental, Social, Governance – with a focus on the environmental factor (E).

CSRD

Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive of the European Union.

EU Taxonomy Regulation

Assessment of environmentally sustainable economic activities.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In particular SDG 6 (Water), SDG 9 (Industry & Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Consumption & Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

We live sustainability

F&T is not a certification body. However, we provide technically relevant measures, improvements, and operational data that can serve as a basis for sustainability reports, audits, and internal assessments.

Sustainable services at a glance

Four levers for sustainable plant operation

01 — Service life

Extending service life instead of producing new parts

One of the most effective measures for reducing CO₂ emissions and resource consumption is extending the service life of existing equipment. F&T supports this through:

  • professional repair instead of premature replacement

  • optimised mechanical seals and supply systems

  • coating technology to protect against wear, corrosion, and cavitation

Reduced material consumption

Scope 3-relevant for the sustainability balance.

Lower energy expenditure

Less energy required for new production and logistics.

Extended lifecycles

Pumps and equipment remain in service longer.

02 — Resources

Reduction of water and media consumption

In many industrial and municipal plants, mechanical seals are continuously supplied with fresh or process water – often without any regulation.

Through optimised or centralised supply systems for mechanical seals, significant volumes of water can be saved – depending on the plant, operating point, and configuration.

Contribution to SDG 6

Clean water through significantly reduced fresh water usage.

Better ESG metrics

Usable figures for ESG and CSRD reporting.

Lower operating costs

Less water, less media consumption, less effort.

03 — Energy

Energy efficiency through optimised plant operation

Unsuitable seals, worn components, or inadequate maintenance lead to increased energy consumption and unstable processes. F&T supports companies through:

  • condition-based maintenance

  • technical root cause analysis for elevated energy demand

  • optimisation of pumps, mechanical seals, motors, and gearboxes

Reduced power consumption

Scope 2-relevant – directly visible in the energy balance.

Higher availability

More stable plants, fewer unplanned shutdowns.

More stable processes

Efficient equipment for predictable operation.

04 — Digitalisation

Condition-based maintenance with F&T IQ

With F&T IQ, F&T offers a digital early warning and monitoring system for pumps and conveying systems. The system enables:

  • continuous data acquisition of relevant operating parameters

  • early detection of deviations

  • planned maintenance instead of reactive emergency interventions

Fewer shutdowns

Early warning instead of reactive emergency response.

Lower spare parts consumption

Maintenance becomes plannable – resources are conserved.

Plannable maintenance

Data as the foundation for sustainable strategies.

Sustainability in practice

F&T IQ – extending service life through digital insight

Working together with customers and our partner KSB, we have been able to significantly extend pump service life through the use of digital solutions – such as KSB Guard within the F&T IQ framework. Because we now know precisely what is happening inside the pump, we avoid unplanned shutdowns, increase availability, and sustainably improve plant efficiency.

Note: The specific ecological impact depends on the medium, temperature, pressure, operating mode, and application.

Contributing to your corporate goals

Sustainability that works in operation

Working with F&T helps companies make measurable contributions to ESG and CSRD targets, sustainably improve environmental metrics in plant operations, and implement sustainability in a technically sound, transparent, and audit-ready manner – not through promises, but through technology that works in practice.
